Who Am I

Musical

Who Am I (2014) is a musical based on a true story from the books “When I was Born Again” and “God’s Eraser” written by Korean pastor, Nak Joong Choi. This musical is set with an English libretto by composer Da Jeong Choi, daughter of the afore-mentioned Rev. Choi. The story unfolds in the early 1960s in South Korea. It is the story of Bill, a teenager who grew up in a dysfunctional family. He fought with malnutrition and five other diseases while serving in a demilitarized zone in the Korean Military Service during the 1960s. Despairing about life while in the army, he attempts to commit suicide by taking sleeping pills but fails. One Sunday morning, an Army Chaplain’s sermon about Judas Iscariot changes Bill’s future life plan. The musical was commissioned by Tom Song, Conductor of Southwestern Chamber Chorale. It is dedicated to Rev. Nak Joong Choi.
